Harlem keeps waiting and hoping for Obama

The Tribal Spears Gallery filled to the brim over the past hours with Obama supporters donning shirts and pins on which the Illinois Senator’s name was emblazoned across. As the results continue to filter in from around the country, the spirits remain high at Harlem4Obama. “We are going to bring this to Denver,” said Harlem4Obama President Michael Washington. “And continue on in November.”

Ohio closes, the crowd grows and CNN plays

The Ohio polls closed at 7:30 p.m. EST and just as they closed Harlem4Obama changed the station from MSNBC to CNN. The crowd continues to grow, but media coordinator Makeba Lloyd said the real crowd starts to trickle in around 8:30 p.m.

Vermont closes and Harlem4Obama waits for results and attendees

Harlem4Obama, a grassroots organization dedicated to delivering New York’s 15th Congressional District to Senator Barack Obama, waits in front of MSNBC’s television newscast for the results returning from Vermont, where polls closed at 7 p.m. Though MSNBC just called the state for Obama and McCain, most other major news networks, including nytimes.com awaits more results. The watch party began at 6:30 p.m. at the Tribal Spears Gallery on Frederick Douglass Boulevard between 116th and 117th streets in Harlem. As of 7 p.m. the party lacked a main ingredient for success – attendees.
